STRK #4 = "Raincoats" by Efterklang

Raincoats - Efterklang (2010)

Efterklang is an alternative rock group. The track, "Raincoats", off their album Magic Chairs features varying time signatures and airy vocals. The precussion hammers down with a high degree, but in short breaks, alike rain. The song gradually builds, with the light and delicate sounds of the guitar. Steam seems to be emitted and coats the song like a fog and smoothes the eratic precussion.

FTRK #24 = "Heroines" by Diablo Swing Orchestra

Heroines - Diablo Swing Orchestra (2009) (.mp3)
(Licensed under Creative Commons)

The Diablo Swing Orchestra is a curious band, consisting of an avant-garde style of metal. The selected track, Heroines, off their album, Butcher's Ballroom, opens with a raw orchestral bass riff. This leads the vocalist into the song, like a candle dripping melting wax. The lady whispers mutters to herself in the night, and upon the transition to the metal chorus, resonates with despair. Finally, the candle flickers out in the finale of the song.
