FTRK #23 = "Storm", Part 1 of "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven" by Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennae To Heaven - Godspeed You! Black Emperor:
Storm (Part 1) (2000)

Technically, this song spands over four parts, however, considering the length of the pieces, it's difficult to bring together in a single posting. The whole piece has a gorgeous, progressive rock and orchestral sound to it and is certainly worth listening to. It begins with a very quiet, near silence, the beginning of a powerful crescendo. It develops into great pillars of light passing through clouds, piercing the sound of the music with its warmth. Gradually, these clouds become less fluffy like those found in dreams, and more akin to that found on empty television channels. The static breaks into war-like drums, pounding as the now black clouds block out the sky. Thundrous vibrations work with the beat until it slows and collapses.

The city is now wet with the sounds of cars cruising over puddles, and we are now welcomed into a mini market discouraging any contact with suspicious individuals. The last three minutes are held together with a melancoly piano refrain, radio static buzzing in the back. Another sad day beneath the weather, it seems. The radio and piano ring in louder tones and close with a resonant chord.
